Samsung and LG make most of the Smart TVs in Kuwaiti living rooms, and both can run IPTV with nothing more than an app. Their app stores and menus work a little differently from phones and streaming sticks, though, and many TV players add an activation step that confuses first-time users. This guide walks through Samsung and LG separately and then covers the fixes for the errors we see most often.

Using an Android TV or Google TV model instead, such as Sony, TCL or Hisense? Our main IPTV Smart TV guide covers those, along with picture settings for every brand.

Before you start: check your TV

  • Find your model number. It is on a sticker on the back of the TV and in the settings menu (Samsung: Settings → Support → About This TV; LG: Settings → General → About This TV).
  • Update the TV software. Samsung: Settings → Support → Software Update. LG: Settings → General → About This TV → Check for updates. Updated software unlocks the latest app versions.
  • Check the country setting. If the app store looks almost empty, make sure the TV’s location or country setting matches where you live, then restart the TV.
  • Connect to the internet. Use an Ethernet cable if the router is nearby, or the 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.
  • Have your IPTV Kuwait login ready. We send it on WhatsApp after you order a plan, together with the name of the player we recommend for your TV.

Older Samsung and LG TVs sometimes lose access to new apps. If your TV is several years old and the recommended player is missing, send us the model number and we will suggest an alternative or a simple stick.

How Smart TV IPTV players work

A TV IPTV player is an empty shell until you add a subscription. Many players on Samsung and LG identify your TV by a device ID or MAC address shown on the app’s first screen. Some ask you to activate that ID once on the player developer’s website, and then add your IPTV Kuwait details there or in the app. Others let you type the login directly on the TV. Either way, your subscription supplies the channels; the app only displays them.

Some TV players are free and others charge their own licence fee to the app developer. We always tell you which applies to the app we recommend before you install it.

Samsung Smart TV IPTV setup

  1. Press the Home button on the remote and open Apps.
  2. Search for the player. Select the magnifying glass and type the app name from our WhatsApp message.
  3. Install the app. Choose Install, and when it finishes, select Open. You can also choose Add to Home so it appears on your home bar.
  4. Note the device details. If the app shows a device ID, MAC address or code on its first screen, take a photo of it with your phone.
  5. Activate or add your login. If the app asks for activation, follow the instructions we send you, using the device ID from your photo. Otherwise, enter your IPTV Kuwait details directly in the app.
  6. Restart the app. Close it completely and open it again so it loads your channel list and programme guide.
  7. Test and save favourites. Open a few channels, try a 4K channel on a 4K TV, and mark your favourites.

Samsung tips

  • If apps behave strangely after an update, unplug the TV from the wall for a minute, then plug it back in. This clears memory more completely than the standby button.
  • If the app store itself misbehaves, many Samsung models include Reset Smart Hub under Settings → Support → Device Care → Self Diagnosis. It removes installed apps, so use it only as a last resort.

LG Smart TV IPTV setup

  1. Press the Home button and open the LG Content Store (called Apps on newer models).
  2. Search for the player named in our WhatsApp message using the search icon.
  3. Install and launch it. Select Install, then Launch. The app appears in your home launcher afterwards.
  4. Write down the device details shown on the first screen, such as a device ID or MAC address.
  5. Activate the player or enter your login, following the steps we send you. The magic remote’s pointer makes typing easier, or you can connect a USB keyboard.
  6. Reload the app so your channel list and guide download.
  7. Organise your channels. Add favourites and check that a 4K channel plays smoothly.

LG tips

  • LG’s Quick Start+ setting keeps the TV half-awake in standby, so a “restart” may not really restart it. If an app misbehaves, unplug the TV for a minute or turn Quick Start+ off.
  • Keep at least some free storage; when an LG TV is full, apps can fail to update silently.

Fixing common Samsung and LG IPTV errors

The app is not in my TV’s store

Check the country setting and update the TV software, then search again. If it is still missing, your model may no longer be supported by that app. Message us and we will recommend an alternative.

“Device not activated” or “playlist expired”

These messages usually come from the player app, not from your subscription. They mean the app’s own activation has not been completed or needs renewing with the developer. Send us a photo of the message and we will tell you exactly what it refers to.

Channels load but show a black screen

Close the app fully and reopen it, then try another channel. If several channels are black, restart the TV and router. If only one channel is affected, let us know which one.

The picture stutters or buffers

TV Wi-Fi chips are often weaker than those in phones. Use a cable if possible, switch to 5 GHz, and lower the quality on busy evenings. Our guide to fixing IPTV buffering in Kuwait has detailed 5G and fibre tips.

The app freezes or closes

Unplug the TV for a minute, update the app and TV software, and remove apps you no longer use. If it keeps happening, the TV’s processor may simply be too slow for a large channel list.

When a stick is the better option

If your Samsung or LG TV is older, slow or missing the app, a streaming stick or Android box is often the quickest fix. It plugs into the HDMI port, receives app updates for longer and usually runs faster than the TV’s own system. See our IPTV Firestick Kuwait guide or read about choosing an IPTV box in Kuwait.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my TV app ask me to activate a MAC address?

Many TV players identify each TV by its MAC address or device ID, and the app developer uses it to activate the player. It is a step for the app, separate from your IPTV Kuwait subscription.

Can I use the same login on a Samsung and an LG TV?

Yes, you can add your login to both TVs. How many can play at the same time depends on your subscription, so tell us on WhatsApp how many screens you want to use at once.

My IPTV app disappeared after a TV update. What now?

Search the app store again and reinstall it; your login can be re-entered in a minute. If the app is no longer offered for your model, we will recommend an alternative.

Your Samsung or LG TV is ready for IPTV. If you have not ordered yet, see IPTV Kuwait plans and prices from $18, or send us your TV model and we will check it first. More about the service is on the IPTV Kuwait homepage.
